This year Cedar Bay’s charity of the year is The British Heart Foundation. Throughout the year we will continue to host various charity fundraising initiatives to help support such an amazing cause.

What do the British Heart Foundation do?

They fund around £100 million of research each year into all heart and circulatory diseases and the things that cause them. Heart diseases. Stroke. Vascular dementia. Diabetes. They’re all connected, and they’re all under the British Heart Foundation microscope. Seven million people in the UK live with heart and circulatory diseases, and these diseases are responsible for more than quarter of all deaths.

In 2020-21, £74.2 million was spent on life saving research and support for heart patients. £28.4 million was spent on the costs associated with generating income. In other words, for every £1 raised, around 67p, is available to spend on funding research on heart and circulatory diseases, and the risk factors that cause them.

With so many people impacted by heart disease, we want to help fund the great work that the charity support. From charity raffles, to game nights and step challenges – we’ll be doing a little bit of everything to get fundraising!
