The software, RFgen gives the flexibility to deploy across a wide variety of hardware environments. With over 30,000 end users supported in 30 countries it is extremely flexible to meet the needs of demanding end users. It provides both a graphical ‘Drag and drop’ style programming interface and the server software to deploy and manage the application to the devices. The handheld devices run either a standard telnet session or its own graphical telnet to allow the user to deploy pictures and colours. RFgen maintains connections to ERP or other host databases to provide real time update and validation. Validation from the host system allows the user to be instantly notified of errors with either a warning or error displayed. This ensures that data integrity is always maintained in the host system. Numerous databases can be connected simultaneously to allow updates across systems. Whilst data integrity is proven by using a real time connection it is possible to queue transactions if the host server is not present. Whilst this can limit the functionality and reduces the validation in certain circumstances it will provides a secure back up approach. The windows server can be set to allow single or multiple sessions per user id in a concept known as connection pooling. This allows users to most effectively use host licenses. The server also provides network management facilities to remotely diagnose issues with the devices, and even to communicate with them from the host. Label printing can be integrated into the data capture transactions or provided by the host systems to give the flexibility to deploy labels at the right point in the processes. |
